Sand Bay
Sand Bay is a fairly quiet bay and it can attract a lot of debris from the Bristol Channel. Locals regularly have litter picking sessions to keep the beach clear. There is a Pontins camp and several static caravan sites in the bay. The view below is from the northern end of the bay looking back towards Weston. The grassy area is actually reclaimed beach after spartina or cordgrass was planted in the 1950s. This grass can be invasive and has spread across most of the beach. Pockets of it have been found at Weston but that is normally removed quickly. It is a site of special scientific interest as the marsh lands attract birds and insects.
Not much else to report. Got back home just as the light was fading and clocked 15 miles. That blew the cobwebs away!
Nice to get out, just for 15 miles, Ken. I think I am coming down with a dose of the winter bug going around. Quickly broke out into a sweat yesterday on the bike and a lot of coughing and spluttering today. The New Year might get off to a slow start!
