Even warmer today, left another layer off. Just doing the 20 today so go for quality over quantity and get some hill work in. And for a decent hill, nothing like Bleadon Hill two miles south of Weston.
A 460′ climb it certainly gets the cardio vascular system working and a bonus is a view from the top. This looks SW towards Devon with Brent Knoll on the left.
Carried on to Banwell and took Riverside, the road that runs alongside the River Banwell. Not a very big river as seen in the below photo on the left of the road. On the right is the bane of the cyclist, the agricultural hedge trimmer. Using chains, it rips at the hedgerow throwing bits of wood over the road. Some are quite sharp splinters which is not good. Luckily, this one was not taking too much off the growth so the road was fairly clear. Just past this point saw a kingfisher fly out of the hedge and race ahead of me before disappearing over the hedge. About a third of a mile further on, the same thing happened. Today’s conundrum is, was it one or two birds?
Through Puxton and crossed over the A370 into Wick St Lawrence. Right into the village Festival of Angels. Here is one, made of polystyrene cups and a ballon. Now that the halo has slipped, looks more like a punk rocker hanging from a gibbet.
Back into Weston and finish off along the promenade. To be confronted by some Star Wars characters. This is the best of the bunch, two Stormtroopers and a Wookie. Luckily they were quite tame and entered into the spirit of the blog! With just over twenty miles on the clock, target reached. Not a bad day at all.
