A wobble around East Leake. 5

After a 30 miler around the Somerset Levels on Thursday, went up to the East Midlands for a weekend at my grandson's place.  He is a fit young man and he let me borrow one of his bikes for a spin around his locality.  Not a good experience to be honest, the bike was a little too big , it had only the one gear which was a quite high, okay on the level but too much on hills. To be honest after a mile or so I did not feel too comfortable on his bike so returned back to his place.  Good to get out in a different part of the U.K.

Tour of Britain

East Leake is on the border of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire and the road I was on was part of the route of the Tour of Britain last year.  The locals celebrating the occasion by leaving a couple of bikes (one is about 1/2 mile back from here) to mark the occasion.  They were both chained up but by the state of them, there is no way anyone would care to remove them!

Home comforts

This was the place we stayed at over the couple of nights the family stayed in and although it was only converted farm buildings and was just a place to sleep in, it offered all the benefits of home comforts at a very reasonable price.

Post Code Lottery

Although this place is shown as in the Loughborough, Leicestershire post code are it is covered by Nottinghamshire services. Confusing.

Not the best of rides but 5 miles in different county was good to record.
