Across the Levels to Sweets Cafe. 42

Going out today on the Somerset Levels on a really nice(despite a bit of a chilly wind from the East).  No need to go out as reached the 102 mile mark yesterday after two or three mundane but productive days this week.  No blogs on those due to time constraints unfortunately.  Went down to Burnham today induct across the levels vis West and East Huntspill and rode into the wind through Burtle to Get to West Hay and Sweets Cafe.   Surpisingly, there were only a couple of cyclists in there, despite it being Sunday, but spent the time having a good chat with a bloke from  Street who was out for a spin round.

Let there be cake

Have been told by a doctor, pending a forthcoming hospital stay,  to 'build yourself up', and he advises eat plenty of carbohydrates.  Cheers Doc.  Superb advice.  Might as well start with a piece of Sweets' Victorian sponge and a mug of tea.  Chatting with my 'new friend'  from Street,  he gave me some good advice about some scenic routes around the Taunton area.  Very doable after a short train journey.  Certainly an option for the future.

Totney Drove

Leaving Sweets, turned west along Totney Drove, a nearly 3 mile long causeway over the Levels.  Always a treat to ride down here, especially with the wind behind you.

Disgusting

It is such a pleasure until this is encountered.   Bad enough dumping this in a beautiful part of Somerset, but it is causing an obstruction of the road to boot.  This will be a real hazard in the dark.  Council to be informed.

Not a bad ride back to Weston with the wind either behind, or over the right shoulder.  Picked up a few personal bests on the way.  Covered 42 miles today, the best since early summer so well cuffed with that.  Plus the total for the week reached 143.
