Nearly the end of October and still in shorts. Unbelievable. Another cracking day so was out fairly early to get back in time to see the last Bike Beach Race, a solo machine race, with over a 1000 motorcycles taking part. Hoping to do about 20 miles today through Banwell, the Strawberry Line, Winscombe and back to Weston. Should get some decent autumnal pictures on the Strawberry Line.
A lot of bikes
Started out along the B each Road in Weston which has virtually b been taken over by the organisers of the Beach Race, Hydro Gardens Ltd. This is an annual event in Weston, now in its 36th Year. These are some of the bikes on the Beach Lawns, all spruced up, ready for todays big race. Yesterday it was quad bikes and sidecars headlining.
Soap in the fountain
Went out to Banwell and was so busy thinking about what to put on today's blog I took a wrong turn and headed back to Puxton instead of the Strawberry Line. What a muppet. Back in town, it wasn't possible to cycle on the prom so used the busy main road, the A370. Going ring past the fountain near the Pier, looks like some joker has put soap in the fountain. Took this picture then headed for an accident! The cars and trucks were all stationary so, playing safe, went on the outside of the queue in the clearly marked central zone. That worked well until a fairly plump lady stepped out from behind a big Ford van straight in my path. She stayed upright, I was a heap on the floor with nothing worse than a grazed knee. Didn't help that I was riding directly into a low sun.
