Eight Old Gits go to Nailsea 43

After the climb up Burrington Combe a couple of days ago, chose an 'easy' ride today going out with some Old Gits.  Seven, and a guest, turned up today for the Friday ride and we went out to the Strawberry Line, through Yatton and Clevedon to Nailsea.  Met one of the Old Gits, a Nailsea resident, at Yatton Station. Back to Weston taking in Sandford and Banwell.  The weather wasn't too bad, a bit chilly for May, but no rain and it was overcast with a bit of a breeze.

Garden Park Cafe

As we found the sea front cafes in Clevedon a little bit pricey, looked elsewhere for a tea stop and chose the Garden Park garden centre and cafe on the road between Clevedon and Nailsea at Tickenham.  This is the B3130 and it was a little too busy for our liking.  The garden centre was quite good and the cafe was good if a little pricey.  Very little change from a fiver for tea and teacake. The photo shows, going round the table from l to r, Andy, yours truly, Simon, Ian, Phil, Arnie, Tim and Sue (Mrs Tim). The finger at the bottom belongs to a helpful, "I don't understand cameras" , waitress.

Strawberry Line

From Nailsea, went back to Yatton and picked up the start of the Strawberry Line.  There are plans to extend this further, to Clevedon, but this has been a talking point for years now.  Perhaps in my lifetime.  The weather stayed the same all the way back to Weston.

A good ride on strange ground for most of us.  Thanks to Ian for finalising the proposed route.  Covered 43 miles today.
