Yatton and Wrington, life in the freezer! 30

Not very warm out there today.  At least the wind speed has dropped a bit but veering round to the NE has bought an icy blast to it.  A trip to Clevedon was abandoned when eldest daughter went out for the day so still headed in that direction to gain the advantage (slightly) of a following wind on the way back.  Going out on the A370 at Hewish, called in to Caffles garden centre for a cup of tea and a warm around their wood burning stove.

Yatton

Got a bit splattered going down the Strawberry Line to Yatton.  Putting the bike in for a service shortly and a priority is to get the mechanic to fit some proper mudguards as well.  The saving in washing machine powder should fund the extra cost.  Photo is the co-op store in Yatton.  The bike racks are not very exciting Mick, sorry, but the chocolate and peanut bar, eaten inside the shop, went down well.  The route home was to Wrington (the tea room was closed), Churchill, Banwell back to Weston.  Found at the end, the STRAVA was not working (operator error again) but at least it was recorded on the watch.  That normally reads slightly less than the Strava app hence the mileage has been rounded up to 30 miles on the manual entry.

A cold day but plenty of layers kept the heat in.  Need some better gloves, that is a priority now.

  1. Good to see you out and about Ken. Yes, The Cycle Racks are pretty common in some places (I found a number of them when down in Surrey on Boxing Day. You do have to look closely at them, however, for subtle variations (put them on the list for our next visitI). Re the gloves Ken, I now swear by having two pairs on - the first are very thin, bought for £1 at Decathlon and the second pair are quite chunky “Thermalite” gloves. Often separate them when it gets too warm. I am going out tomorrow for a test ride, although I know I am not over this damn flu or whatever it is!!
