Usual circuit with the Old Gits 26

That was colder than expected out there today.  Out with the Old Gits on a 'normal' run through Banwell and Sanford to Caffles for refs.  Didn't seem too cold in the town when the 7 of us started out, but riding through the country lanes, especially in the exposed areas, the temperature seemed to drop dramatically.

Rob's Corner

Named after one of the founder members of the Old Gits who who passed on, a stone marks this gateway where he used to stand and gaze over the fields towards the Mendips.  It was shrouded in mist this morning as the sun was rising and those present couldn't help but admire the view.

At Caffles

Good to see the wood burner was chucking out the heat when we arrived.  George on the right hogging the warmth.  Cheap day today, the owners had complimentary warm mince pies for us, more than enough to go round and Andy paid for the drinks as a seasonal gesture in lieu of a Christmas card each.  A nice touch.  The seven starters had swelled to nine at this point with the tandem two arriving by car.  With nearly two thirds of the ride completed, the ride back to Weston was not too bad.

Completed 26 miles today.
