Congresbury Cuckoo 27

Going like a train this week!  Clocked up the best weekly mileage since March 2015 and the second best all time.  Went out through Puxton, Congresbury, Churchill, Sandford and Banwell before returning to Weston.

Strawberry Line

Stopped for a quick photo of the Strawberry Line, a disused railway line, and propped the bike up against this bench which carries a plaque commemorating the 70th wedding anniversary of Alan and Beryl Pratt in 2015.  Hope they are still going strong.  Whilst there, heard a cuckoo over in the Congresbury direction and again a couple of times later as I carried on towards Congresbury.  That is a definite indicator of Spring, despite the cool north wind.

Churchill Jubilee Clock Tower

Headed back towards Weston, through Churchill, past the Jubilee Clock Tower erected in 1897 to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria's reign.   Later restored in 1977. The drinking fountain no longer works but the clock certainly does, and fairly accurately too.

Raod Closed

This is on the Sandford to Banwell Road, just prior to the junction with the A371.  Managed to walk past the pinch point near the junction without annoying the workmen.

Weston Colour Run

An annual event, now in its third year, that raises much needed cash for the Weston Hospice. These three ladies kindly agreed to pose for the blog before they were sprayed with a variety of colour dyes and charged up and down the beach between Weston and Uphill.  A modest 5k event, it goes a long way towards bolstering the funds of this very worthwhile charity. Well done you three.

And they are off

Managed to get a photo of the start of the Colour Run event from home.

27plus miles today taking the weekly total to 149.3.  Drat, should have checked before finishing and gone the extra .7
