Back on the road - Yay 4

At last! After just over two weeks with a stick neck got out this lunchtime with a small ride along the promenade at Weston and did a bit of shopping on the way back. At the moment no apparent after affects.

Beach huts

Well. these don't seem to have gone down too well at all. Very rarely see anyone actually using them but on a cloudy day like today, no one. They have been leased for a year for up to £2,500 pounds which seems a lot of money to pay for limited use. Weekends see a bit more use but they do seem to be a white elephant.  Good for an ongoing debate on social media.

Birnbeck Pier

Another hotly debated subject with the locals is the lack of action over this pier. The only one in the country that joins the mainland to an island, Birnbeck Island. A product of the Victorian era, it has been derelict since 1994 and no-one seems to know what to do with it. Local people fear it will collapse into the sea before a decision can be made about its future which would be a shame.  The red doors are where the RNLI had their station but obviously this cannot be used now.

Flowerdown House

Situated on the sea front at Weston, Flowerdown House offers welcome breaks for anyone in the RAF family. With 19 rooms and all sorts of entertainment and care facilities it offers respite and care to any members of the Royal Air Force Association.

A very modest 4.5 miles today along the flat prom. Neck still not 100% but did not experience any real problems and was able to do shoulder checks etc. Certainly good to be out today.
