31st October 2013 Longbridge Leap

Quick ride out in the late afternoon so did not go too far. The nights are drawing in fairly sharpish and it is not good being out on the roads in the dusk despite having decent lights on the bike. Took the fairly flat route through the Woodloes Estate and the Warwick Racecourse before turning round at Longbridge on the western side of Warwick. Dashing back home before it got too dark, did a decent average time 13.2 mph. Rushing about in the poor light, no chance for any photos so as there was a surplus taken on the Alcester run a couple of days ago, you can feast your eyes on those.

Salter's Lane aquaduct

This aquaduct carries the Stratford on Avon Canal over Salter's Lane near Bearley. The canal itself runs from Birmingham to Stratford.

Tea at Alcester

Very English pot of tea at the Orangemabel Cafe. I did mention that it was a tad expensive for tea and cake but considering there was about 5 cups of tea in the pot, not bad value for money. If you can drink 5 cups that is. I did like the old fashioned touch of loose tea necessitating having to use a tea strainer. The plate did contain a delicious slice of Bakewell Tart, but it did not make sense to leave it on the plate for too long.

Just over 12 miles today.
