20th September 2013 Canal Capers

Met up with Mick today for a spin across the bridle paths and canal towpaths. On the way to meet him at Kenilworth Castle, the phone app for Strava became inactive and I didn't notice this till we got to Hatton Locks. Hence the very straight line on the map.

Hatton Locks

The concern we had that the bridle path may be a bit muddy in parts was unfounded. No problem getting across to Hatton Locks and the cafe. Tea and toast, sat outside, was just the ticket. The photo is of a picnic table near to the cafe. It is made out of old pilings, wood used that was used to prop up the banks of the canals. It is not used very much now by the look of it. I would suggest if you do use it, take a tablecloth and a couple of cushions to sit on.

Carried on then down the tow path into Warwick and back through Leek Wootton. On the way along the canal, Mick spotted a grey wagtail, not a common sight. Making adjustments to the map above, did a total ride of 18 miles today. Mick, from Westwood Heath, expects to cover more ground and break a personal best for distance covered.
