28th December 2012

A nice gentle ride today with Carmen, grandchild number 8. She is 6 and is staying with us for a few days. We have spare bikes for the kids and as it is fairly mild, thought we would take a trip from home to the canal about 2 miles away. Although Carmen and I have done this before she was a bit tired today and we turned back earlier than anticipated. So we made a slight detour.
Saxon Mill

Went to have a look at Saxon Mill, again! The water in the River Avon has subsided quite a lot and pedestrians can get to the footbridge now. This bridge was closed for months due to its state of repair but has been completely renovated now giving access to the footpaths to Old Milverton.

Leek Wootton School
Half a mile to home but its a long drag into my village. The penalty for living at the top of a hill. Carmen was feeling the pinch by the village school so we had to have a rest here. Not sure how it happened but she perked up considerably when I reminded her that we had best get moving or we could be late for the pantomime we are going to see later.

Not very far today, about 3 miles but on 6 year old legs can be tiring. The main thing is, we got out for some fresh air and worked our lungs a bit.
