9th September 2012 A must for this album had to be Warwick Castle, This is one of the finest castles in England and the view from this bridge over the River Avon is superb in the right light conditions. This was not one of them as evident by my shadow in the foreground. This will be revisited in the future.
Warwick Castle is only 3 miles from where I live, as is Kenilworth Castle, sadly wrecked by Henry Eighth in the 16th century. This was my next port of call the following day. To get there it is easier, and more interesting to use some of the many bridle paths in Warwickshire. This is where the old mountain bike came into its own.
11th September 2012 Further travels on the bridle paths took me to Hatton and a very impressive lock system on the canal that leads into Warwick. 21 in all from top to bottom.
13th September 2012 Get the road bike out again and go a little further. A ride out through Charlecote and Wellesbourne led me to the cafe at the airfield. Couldn't resist a cup of tea and a piece of cake whilst watching the planes take off and land.
23rd September 2012 Into Leamington today, my home town. This is a statue of Queen Victoria at the front of the Town Hall. A bomb landed near here during World War 2 and moved the statue an inch on the plinth.
Just around the corner is the Mill Bridge over the River Leam. A favourite place for the locals to feed the ducks.
