La not so Delicia
Met up at Graham's house and started off into the wind. We took a route that most of it we were familiar with but Graham found himself on new ground between Chadwick and Balsall. At times the wind, especially when the showers came, felt particularly cold and we were looking forward to reaching the La Delicia cafe in Balsall Common. When we arrived, this was the sight that greeted us. A sign on the door stated that it was closed for two weeks and a builder came out and dried our tears. He was a keen cyclist himself and he said that he understood our pain.
Cherry Tree Cafe
Next door to La Delicia was a Costa Coffee shop but we didn't fancy that especially when the builder told us about the silly prices there. We knew of a cafe in Kenilworth that was on our way back so that was the plan. Decided against going down the Greenway, the most direct way back, as it would be a bit grotty after recent rain. Didn't fancy getting a puncture down there. Made the Cherry Tree Cafe after about 28 miles into the ride, not used to going that far without a stop. That actually made the tea and toasted tea cake more enjoyable. Decided to go back through Leek Wootton and Warwick.
It only gets worse!
Sailing through Kenilworth just fine, went past the new railway station (too cold to stop and take a photo) when Graham called from behind me to stop. He had a puncture! Stopped to mend the monkey and found a thorn in the rear tyre. Didn't take too long to fix it and we both made it home in one piece. Another 37 miles to add on today.
