19th October 2013 Balsall Common Bash

Day off yesterday so raring to go today. Retrace a route that was done a month ago, looking for some autumn colour in the trees. Heading out through Chadwick End, Balsall Common and back through Warwick University.

Saracen's Head Balsall Common

A popular pub on the road from Balsall to Knowle, it has been converted from a 16th Century building so has plenty of character. Trip advisor has mixed reviews ranging from terrible to excellent so take your pick. Never been myself. I was struck by the sheep in the garden. They are made out of chicken wire and netting and suitably painted. Very clever.

Tea and Jam Doughnut

Stopped at La Delicia cafe in Balsall Common for a cup of tea and a donut and sat outside watching the world go by. Whilst there, I had a text and picture from my granddaughter Katie. It was a picture of a computer screen and the text said, "I am here!" She was at work. I could not resist taking the next photo and sending that back to her. Look at all the jam in that doughnut.

A nice ride today. Into the wind on the way back home but not a problem. 27 miles in total.
