8th May 2013 Portishead Plod

More pastures new today. Still down at Clevedon so have taken the opportunity to go out with my grandson Dean. Heading out to Portishead along the coast.

Windmill Inn Portishead

Started at sea level and climbed to 320 feet before dropping down (at 35mph!) to the Windmill Inn.  A lovely spot for coffee and a biscuit.  This is Dean enjoying his coffee with views over the Bristol Channel.  In the distance is the Severn Bridge and that is a target for us sometime in the summer.

The Windmill 2

The Windmill Inn is a very popular place, especially lunchtime. Last time I came here it was full and we had to go elsewhere. With terrific views over the estuary, no wonder there were van loads of OAPs turning up as we left.

St Andrew's Church Clevedon

This church has become famous recently after being featured in the BBC series Broadchurch. My daughter Jacqueline attends this church regularly, and tried to get in the series as an extra but unfortunately could not do so.  This is right near to the Poets Walk where the poets Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Makepeace Thackeray frequently walked in the late 18th century.

Another good ride today, 17 miles along the coast. A bit windy at times but Dean, bless him, took the lead and let me tailgate him back home. No punctures today, Yay.
